Default Duckling

As mentioned in my dragonfly thread there is little cuter than a baby Wood Duck. Shot with the E- and Sigma 135-400 (I assume at 400, most are). Cleaned up with Topaz.

Definitely cute. They must weight as much as an asprin.

Can't weigh too much or they wouldn't flutter but just splat when the leave the next box. Strong little guys though, they managed to swim through the lily pads without too much trouble. Saw one juvenile last week, will check again today but I think only 1 made it.

Wonder what these cute little ducklings taste like to a big ol' largemouth bass or turtle.

I'm pretty sure we don't have anything but little vegetarian turtles around here. Doubt there would be any bass in these ponds either though I could be wrong. My guess is either fox or raccoon get most of them with some birds of prey getting others but I have never seen either a hawk or eagle at one of these ponds.
