Default A Hairy Male

Or a male Hairy Woodpecker I should say. Sorry to disappoint..
Probably the imature brother of the female I posted last week. Nice to see all the kids coming out and growing up.
While at the computer I can open the window and get a clean shot with the screen out.
E500 and the unbiguous 70-300

Another scruffy one. Nice shot. How close is the suet to the house? Mom has had her suet feeder up since Jan but has yet to see a woodpecker and it annoys her. I'm wondering if placement is the key.

From the house about 8ft about 10 from my window. None of the birds seem to bother about us being around, even when Sharon fills the table or replaces the suet they just hang nearby.

Right now there are about 6 chickadees all flitting about it, they've been known to sit on her arm or shoulder while waiting.
Even the young racoons just back off a few feet when their coon/cat/food is being replenished and I've had a deer take an apple out of my hand.

We've been here 10 or more years now, I guess they've figured we're harmless.

They probably know you don't do math.

I was out putting the deck furniture back when I heard the Piliated guy calling in. He is timid, by the time I got the camera out he'd flown from the power pole into the trees. Handsome devil, I'll get him one day.

That was my point. They trust you because of an equivalent level of skill.

Ted

PS: I should note that I'm not buying this lack of math skill on your part, at least in terms of your ability to compute your commission on a real estate sale...

Default I vote Downey

The beak is too short and tapered to a sharp point. Also has black spots along the white outer part of the tail feathers.

Nice pic, none the less.

You're probably right Greg. I just glanced at him. We get them all here, (sometimes at the same time) the Downey (Robert Jnr. Sharon calls him) being the smallest. Then the Hairy (or Harry) then the Lewis (A personal fav. because that's my name, Ken Lewis) The Flicker trumps them all and the Piliated doesn't come to the feeder but he talks a lot.
