Default [pic] Crimson Rosella

One of my favourite local spots to visit when I want to make sure I see some birds is the Maroondah Reservoir in Healsville. The weather was pretty average on this particular day, raining on & off. There were however a decent variety of birds around & not many people.

A Crimson Rosella takes shelter from the rain amongst the leaves. A slightly higher ISO and slower shutter speed than I would have liked, but the combination of lightly green coloured leaves & darker green background compliment the beautiful plumage of this bird.

Close up portrait of a Crimson Rosella. This bird was feeding on Sunflower seeds and allowed me to get very close.

That was one tame bird. The 70-300 is great in that you can zoom to 300mm and get in really close yet keep a decent enough working distance you stay outside the comfort zone of a creature like this so they don't fly or run off on you.
