Default New photosharing service by Olympus

Hi, all just received an e-mail detailing a new photo storage & sharing service by Olympus. It can be found at www.ibonthenet.com & if you sign up before tomorrow you get 2 gb free storage space. Didn't have time to check it out to thoroughly but figured I'd post this so those who are interested could get the free 2gb space before tomorrow.

Doesn't look like it is available in Australia.

That's too bad. I took a look and the prices seem very reasonable - $2.50 per year per GB. I'm happy with Smugmug but if I didn't have that service I'd be very interested in the Oly site.

Of course, one would worry that in the future they would limit you to micro-sized images.

Ted, that is hilarious but ironically may be true.

piXelated, you could try a workaround by going to geotunnel.com, I think its a proxy server.

Microsoft has announced a new service under Windows Live which gives 25GB of free storage for your files, including photos. And the cost appears pretty reasonable for using more than the 25 GB.

Come on!!!

If you provide a service on the internet, it should be available to all! If not, you should be tarred, feathered and laughed at... sigh.

Not in Canada either, even though most Oly support in Canada comes from the States! Even the OlympusCanada.com website is copyrighted Olympus America Inc.

I'm mystified as to what Oly is smoking here. Surely it can't be a simple issue of different currency and exchange rates.

Ooops, we are talking about a company whose software capabilities are not best in class...

Agreed.

What am I missing here, guys? You are worried about a camera company that made a temporary offer of 2 GB free computer file storage, but everybody is ignoring the fact that a computer company is offering 25 GB free. Personally I think Oly should stick to cameras, and not put it's development money into computer services.

Hey Guys

You know I'm not too sure about a lot of these free services, esp after finding the few pics that I have on Flickr showing up on a site that I'd never come across until I did a wee google search on me.

http://www.lurvely.com/[email protected]

This site's using the Flickr API to somehow host my pics and I'm going to ask the webmaster to pull them down or if they refuse to do so simply going to delete the flickr account. So I'm with Ted, Greg and the others that use smugmug, theyre simply very good and the amount of starge space you can use is just ridiculous ! I'd like them to add some additional features to it to improve the galleries though but for the $$$ they are pretty damn good.
