Default How does a Florida iguana search for food?

This weekend I was outdoors with one of my cameras and came across an iguana. I'm not very familiar with these creatures, but I was able to follow him around for a few minutes, and photograph how he hunts for food when he is ready to eat.

Several photos follow.

He moves silently thru the woods seeking food:

He spots his target:

Yes, this is where the food is:

"Come on fellows. Let me in!"

"I know you are in there."

Start scratching on the door:

Scratch much faster and beg.

A face only a mother could love.

Give up and leave

So basically you're saying that he wanted to come into your house to get some food, and you heartlessly blew him off?

LOL. Even if it had been my house, I wouldn't have let him in! We have a strict rule about keeping the gators, turtles, and other reptiles outside!

This iguana was wondering around inside the aviary at Lowry Park zoo, and that was a small supply building, There were some people inside that building, he could hear their voices. Obviously they have spoiled that iguana. Anyway, it added to my collection of humorous animal shots.

P.S. speaking of shots, you haven't posted much lately?

OK, I get the idea about keeping gators, snakes, and turtles out of your house, but how can you resist a lovable iguana?

If I can get out the next few weekends to shoot the fall leaves you'll see some photos from me. After that, probably not until the spring, based on past experience around here during the winter. Even that great impromptu classic car show I've been shooting, will probably have to shut down for the winter since they have to be out of that shopping center by 9am so the local businesses can have parking for their customers. Maryland doesn't have the good sense that Arizona does, to NOT observe the totally moronic daylight savings time.

I really do miss northern Arizona.
