To me they look like some sort of lily. They shot up 2 feet in just a few days, during the hottest days of the summer; no leaves, just these really pretty flowers.

Thanks, Zig. I didn't know there were flowers with no leaves, so all the photosynthesis has to occur in the stem.

Your heat wave and drought are terrible.

But I think it shows that you never should have left Antarctica.

That's a bit too cool.
Heatwave.....Drought.....? I'm wearing fleece today in the morning mist. It'll get to the low 70's this 'avvy though. Nice.

Hah! In a similar vein, I always wondered how the Denver Broncos could lose a home game (especially after I lived at a similar altitude in Arizona). At a mile high you're missing 10% of the oxygen present at sea level. I know they're young, but still...
