.............sorry you got wet Ted. I wish we were wet here but still is no forecast for any rain any time soon. Fires are happening all over now, just an hour ago one along the freeway south of us 5-miles, it spread into a neighborhood and burned a couple homes.

We do now have a temperature change, in the mid-80s all week with the humidity 10% or less. It will rain again one day but in what year is our question.

Books, what is a physical book anyway?

That's what's so frustrating to me about this weather - one region flooded and another in a drought.

Why did the Texas Forest Service wait until yesterday to call in the DC-10 airtanker?

...there has been a fleet of forest service helicopter tankers and bucket slingers as well as a bunch of smaller tanker planes in use for the past month. These have been used at the fires in this area last week which were surrounding the Possum Kingdom reservoir, a very large lake system. The water supply was within a 5-mile-at-most distance from the fires, so the transport was quick to and from the need.

This week the super-major fire probably seen most in national news was in south Texas, the city of Bastrop..... not near lake water supply so the transport was longer distance and from what has been said locally a different approach to fight that.

The news report just now was that there are now 180-new fires in the state, one just down the road (5-miles) from here... it is now contained.

The Bastrop fire alone now has destroyed 1400 homes and is being battled by 844 ground firefighters with air support.

****** EXIF viewer plugin for the CHROME browser ******

I use the CHROME browser on one of my Apple MACs and this plugin for image EXIF data viewing.

The plugin is a simple 'click' to install; restart CHROME. Right click any image, select Show EXIF data and a popup box will detail the data found. If there are no exif data imbedded then There are no EXIF data will show in the popup box.

This viewer allows reorganization and modification to the element list, click the wrench icon at the upper right of the popup box OR from the CHROME topmost bar...... Window/extensions/Exif Viewer options ... make any changes and don't forget to Save Options in the left column.

If you need/want an EXIF Viewer plugin for the CHROME browser, this is the one I use ===> http://tinyurl.com/3qfxeu3

Good morning Bob.

Looks like Panasonic and Olympus may have dodged a big bullet here as the new Nikon mirrorless offerings employ a sensor 1/2 the size of the m43 systems.

It wont make a difference to anyone that has to have the Nikon name on their camera. But for those that are looking for image quality, lens choices, and a small compact body. Olympus still is a compelling choice

Now to see what Canon is cooking up as they are scheduled to make an announcement in November that will "change the world"- according to their advertising campaign.

Default Bill Turner's condition

Many of the forum members are familiar with Olympus user Bill Turner, even though he doesn't post on this forum. He is a regular on FourThirdsPhoto.com and DPReview.com.

He is suffering from lung cancer. There are posts at both these sites with updates on his condition, if anyone wants to get updates or to send best wishes to Bill.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the heads up on Bill's condition. I knew he was in the hospital but wasn't aware of the extent of his illness.

Hope he survives this battle.
