Default "I wonder if leaves feel lonely

when they see their neighbors falling." John Muir

Last year we moved in after the leaves had changed color, so what we had was the 4.5 tons of leaves on the ground. But this year, oh my, this year they made up for it.

Ted, your leaves are beautiful, and you didn't have to travel far to take the shot!

(I have to say that I definitely don't envy the job you will have of raking those leaves in the coming weeks!)

Thanks, guys - I really enjoyed getting this shot! I'm really not used to the lighting on the east coast - in Arizona it was very consistent. Out here, you often get great early morning light, then hazy clouds then bright sunshine that washes everything out, then cycle the series again and again... For this photo there was only maybe 15 minutes of good light.

I have a neighbor my wife and I call a saint. He has a lawn maintenance business and has all the heavy duty equipment to take care of this sort of thing, so it doesn't take him long, so his prices are reasonable. I couldn't handle this yard otherwise.

Do leaves feel lonely as they see their neighbors falling?

Frankly, I don't care

I just spent the last four days raking and mulching up an acre and a half of leaves. And, there's at least another four days of raking left on the the tree limbs.

Bah Humbug:

Zig

By the way, nice photograph

Zig: I understand how you feel. Raking the leaves is one of the most unpleasant things I remember from the time I lived in Atlanta.

(And It seemed to never end, because when you got them raked, then a stiff breeze would blow new ones down from your trees, or bring in leaves from trees that weren't even on your property!) After moving back to Florida, the only thing I rake now is smoothing out the mulch in the flower garden. Ask me which chore is better!
