Default [pics] Blue-faced Honeyeater

Another beautifully coloured honeyeater that resides at Healsville Sanctuary is the Blue-faced Honeyeater. These birds have an amazing blue coloured patch of skin around their eyes. The juvenile of this species has an olive-yellow patch of skin that turns to blue by the age of about 16 months.

These birds are quite territorial in their enclosure, often chasing off the dozens of smaller White-naped Honeyeaters that descend upon the enclosure to steal the larger honeyeaters food.
