Default Continental Cup (Curling)

We got some tickets to go to the Continental Cup of Curling this week-end (kind of like the Ryder Cup) ... which is the World against North-America.

This is my first, not too bad shot. You can see Marc Kennedy ready to throw his rock (he was part of the team who on the Winter 2010 Olympic Gold Medal of Curling).

Info: E-30 with 70-300mm, /f6.3, 1/4 sec @ ISO 2000. Taken about 100 feet away.

There is a bit a noise but it is still usable. More to come today (we are going back this evening).

Hi Folob,

My personal experience with the E-30 when shooting in high ISO and shooting in relatively low light or (Natural Light), I tend to have better results with the camera is set to overexpose by 1/3 exp. comp.

But I honestly have to say I have yet to photograph at a television station.

The image you posted is a bit noisy. It would be welled served by using a little noise reduction in post processing. I tend to use Adobe's Camera Raw and finish all

By the way, I like the image, just could be a bit better.

Per your okay received;
Here is the image after running thru Adobe's Camera RAW v6.3: I do have to point out that due to the smaller file size there is a limited amount that can be done. I think the results show what is possible and would be improved upon using the original file.
I applied the following settings using sliders found in noise reduction:

luminance : 20
luminance detail: 50

Color : 5
color detail: 50

I increased exposure by .10
and changed white balance to auto
