Default Morro bay to Half Moon Bay

One of the best road trips in the world. We were heading north on I-5 from San Juan Capistrano got over the Grapevine and onto the flats, great for making time getting home.
Then suddenly, without any help from me the car turned sharp left and went over the coastal mountains and ended up in Morro bay. Funny how that happens. Figured as long as we were there we might just as well have a good fish and chip dinner and a good nights rest then get back on track to day.

Love Morro bay, It's been about 12 years since we were there last but we felt right at home. The drive up along the coast today and through Big Sur was just spectacular. I've done it several times since 1969 but not at an average of about 35MPH and a car free road. We were virtually alone out there.
Half Moon bay used to be our base when we had business in San Francisco.

We stopped to smell the roses (and eucyliptus trees!!) and take a few shots along the way. No wonder it took all day. Had to catch the Elephant Seals, a face only a mother could love, some of the coast, bought some snacks and wine in Big Sur for a picnic on the rocks. Overlooking the Pacific.

The Rape fields we found and did a U turn in time to catch them as the sun was setting.

Last June when we went to San Francisco, we took the highway along the coast to just south of Half Moon Bay before having to turn around at the end of the day to get back home. Beautiful drive. Gotta get back there so we can continue on south.

Saw these guys just north of Santa Cruz....they were NUTS..

Great pictures and they brought a smile to my face, thanks. I grew up in Cayucos (town next to Morro Bay) and went to High School in Cambria, very familiar with the whole area and now live Kennewick, WA. I guess I may be a little home sick. Enjoyed the pictures.

Things will get better Bob, remember global warming...!~

Thanks Rudd. I suppose right now you're packing your bags.... and yes I've seen Kennewick..

Good shot Garry, makes my wish I was 94 years younger, then I'd have been all over that sport.
We stayed a few days in an area east of La Paz called La Ventana. Calm beautiful mornings but comes noon and the place is frantic and the winds, strong consistant winds sweep the bay. We came over the hill and before we saw the town we saw a forest of kites...hundreds of them. It's the mecca for these crazy guys.

Heading through SFO today. Not going out until 9, hoping that everyone going to work has already made it and we have the roads to ourselves.

source: Texas
define Normal as:
........February, 10 F, freezing rain, sleet & snow where 24 hrs earlier the temp was 60 F. Then following 2-days of STUFF the sun shows and the temp soars into the 50s, BUT within 10 hrs the temp falls to 15 F with again sleet, snow and other STUFF.

Begin

If February Set Texas=Normal
else
Set Texas=Normal(anyway)

When Texas=Normal
proceed
else
stop

End

Today 54, weekend high 60s ..... Next week 70-80 ..... all will be normal

Ta Ted!!!
On the last leg of the trip now. We'll be home about noon...ish tomorrow.
Turned 8,000 miles this morning.

I've a "few" photos to go through, if I find something decent I'll post them.
My daughter is going to frame this for her kitchen. "Fud" is a brand name in Baja, sort of like "Oscar Mayer"
