I changed my settings to Vivid, and the contrast/saturation to +1 or +2. And then it seems to provide the best rendition right out of the camera of the scene that I remember. Of course, maybe my monitors are off, but for me these settings work well.
I've been thinking about trying vivid. If I was willing to take your advice I'd definitely do it...
