Steven,

I think he is a permanent resident of your house now.

Also, is there a red eye on #1?

Hi Peru: yes, there is a bit of red-eye in that duck. He was in the shadow of a tree, so I used a 1/4 fill flash to even out the light, and the telephoto lens picked up the reflection in his eyes.

Hi Fred: it was an outdoor water exhibit for penguins. At the local attractions here like the Zoo and Busch Gardens, it's common for the wild birds like egrets, herons, and ducks to frequent the exhibits. No hunters, clean water, and plenty of food. The places don't mind, as they get extra animals for free as they come and go.

The zoo has an outdoor exhibit of South African penguins, with a swim area for them to frolic. So while I was there to photograph the penguins, from time to time there would be a duck swimming around. The ducks are a lot easier to photograph as the penguins are unbelievably fast swimmers. I could only capture the penguins when they were at rest.
