Default .....still HOT, but I'm getting out

The temps are still everyday 100+, today 104.... HOWEVER, we had a break last week at consecutive day 40 of 100+ temps. On day 41 it was only 85+ and actually rained, here at the ranchero we got 3/4 inch of rain. BUT the dang thang about it is that in 1980 we had a record 42 consecutive days at 100F and after what we've just gone through to nearly break the record it fizzled out for one day. We're now at 50-of-51 days and counting. CRAP! 2nd-place record.............

I am making my rounds to the parks of Arlington, TX and finding that the 2 to 3 hours early morning have been quite rewarding given the weather and I am feeling good from the exercise.

Here are samples of this weeks walks through our veterans memorial park. carrying the E-3 & E-300. Today I lost the eye cup off the E-3 so will maybe replace the eye cup with a P3 when Arlington Camera gets more P3s. AC sold the last P3 they had last evening...(Greg C. maybe ????)

Excellent color Bob. Great sensor in the old e-300 and obviously the 14-54mm lens really helps. Well done.

P.S. maybe you should come on down to Tampa for a while, we are averaging the low to mid 90s this past few weeks. (Don't go to Orlando, it was 101 there last weekend!)

Nice sharp colourful photos Bob, I like your choice of shots and composition.

As for weather, it looks like summer might be coming this week. The temps got up into the 70's today but a nice brisk wind stopped it from getting to hot. I went sailing so it worked out nice.
The past couple of weeks have been sunny after the morning mist goes away and good enough to get some yard work done.

Looks like your computer ad man got banned...

I didn't know they made an adapter to fit a P3 on an E3 OVF.

Steven - can't put the E-300 away, 6-yrs and it just keeps on clicking (John Cameron Swayze).

Ken - the weather sounds so refreshing, we will survive this and when the change comes it will be so welcome; right before the less than 40F stuff.

Ted - the adapter is not a guaranteed fit but when I explained to Bonnie (telling her the P3 does not have the removable rubber thingy) she thought it maybe good idea to keep from losing the $7 rubber piece a couple times a year.

Thanks for the comments guys, I am having a lot of fun this summer despite being thermally limited.

Wow! If I could only sell a line of reasoning like that to Linda. Instead, I get a well-perfected (I wonder why) eye-roll.

Where did you shoot that first image, Bob? I have not been there. I need to get a list of better parks to visit from you so I can check them out. I pretty much lived in River legacy Park the 4 years I was living in North Arlington.

Wasn't me that bought that E-P3.......I picked mine up at Competitive Camera here in Dallas! When I was at AC last weekend buying the only 12mm f2 they had, the only E-P3 they had was white, which was cool-looking but I wanted a chrome body. I also got on their list to get one of whatever initial supply of the 45mm f1.8 they get in.

Bob: the standard Oly eye-cup is only $6.99 on the Oly America website store, also available for about the same price at B&H. Last year I lost the eye-cup for my E-520 and ordered it from B&H with no hassles for $6.95. I should have bought two, and those things have a way of disappearing.

Greg, these were at Veterans Park off Arkansas at http://tinyurl.com/4x5hu5w

Here is the online parks guide http://tinyurl.com/3eunk3x

Here are the parks I've done since July 01 http://tinyurl.com/3rx8m3u

Here are my trips to Lake Arlington in July http://tinyurl.com/3w9jeks

Here are the SW Nature Preserve photos http://tinyurl.com/3thvb5t

We've 88 parks in Arlington, my goal is to over some time period to make at least one photo of all of them. A couple months ago I started one day by going to the lake just to walk & look around, what I found was more than I expected so then I decided the parks tour would be a fun thing to do.

Now I need to get myself a tripod for the heavy hardware and the E-P3 for the fun of it.

As for my favorite parks so far... of course the 1000+ acres River Legacy system, Randol Mill, Veterans, and Lake Arlington. Some of the small neighborhood parks have outstanding gardens and nature walkways, we are fortunate for the parks we have.

My most favorite of all is the 60-acre undeveloped the SW Nature Preserve, just 1/2 mile from home. I usually go there in the spring and again in the fall. I would take you there when the temps get bearable.

At sunrise even the dead trees can be pretty, the color here is only seen at sunrise else it is just dull green and brown.. the fountain at Veterans Park
