Default The Laurel Highlands of southwestern PA

are really pretty especially in the autumn. This is the Glessner Bridge (near Shanksville, PA), built in 1881 by Tobias Glessner and rehabilitated in 1998.

PS: Growing up in an area of the Midwest without many covered bridges but with a lot of snow, I had thought that they covered the bridges to keep snow off of them. Hah! They were covered to keep rain off and prolong the life of the wood used in the construction.

And at that time when winter transportation was by horse-drawn sleigh, they had to shovel snow onto the covered bridges.

I was back in southern PA yesterday and the colors aren't turning much in the lowlands. I think you have to be in the highlands to see colors like this photo.

Nice shot, with just right composition and colors. Another Ted specialty on display!
