Default Remembrance Parade

Photo's taken from the village remembrance parade. My son took part as a scout.

Wreaths have been laid

Polesworth 1st Scout Troop:

My boy (I really like this one):

Probably not the best photography but I like 'em!

Taken with the 17.5-45 lens, WB set to cloudy then sunny, I think that has washed some of the colour out so may have a play in GIMP later.

Really nice, Sam. I also really like the photo of your son. Take all the photos of him that you can before he decides he doesn't want to pose anymore.

Ted

PS: What is the Remembrance Parade remembering in Britain - the end of the war to end all wars? (That's where Veteran's Day in the US originated.)

It's mainly the first and second world wars but with Iraq and Afghanistan there are more to remember.

Great shots Sam. Looks like mum's been busy sewing on merit badges... Nice that the kids today are still taught what war actually means.

Right Ted (for once) Remembrance Day, formally Armistace Day. 11/11/18. Now it (like the US) covers all the wars.
The Flanders Poppy is still the symbol.

Thanks Thunderchild. Very nice series, and good to know that people remember. Also a good shot of your son.

Thanks all, I really do like the shot of my Ben, Think that one could be one for framing. I still have 3 more badges to go on that shirt, I really hate sewing, can't count the times I have put one on upside down!

Yes it is good that the kids are taught how important remembering sacrifice is, I think every Beaver (little 'uns), Cubs (bit bigger) and the Scout (big ones!) from the pack turned out which was brilliant. I am very proud of my boy!

What a great mini-series, Sam! You have every right to be proud of Ben. I know I would be proud of him, too. Our church (as to most churches here) sponsors Scout troops/dens.
