Default La Compania de Jesus

Visiting Quito the capital of Ecuador I was walking for the Colonial part of the city and La Compania Church always was in my plans to visit, unfortunately there is a prohibition to take pictures with out authorization of the Director in charge of the administration of this building.

The Church has been catalogued by UNESCO among the hundred most important World Heritage Site Monuments in the world. This building was built between 1605 and 1765.

This is a magnificent example of the extraordinary artistic ability of the Ecuadorian artisans; with profusely carved altars covered with gold leaf.

I sent an e-mail to the Administration of the Church and adding my gallery as reference they allow me to take pictures but just for only 30 minutes and they asked me to forward it to them and give the rights of my pictures to the Foundation.

Enjoy the tour, I hope you like it.

Very nice set . Interesting enough, the inside of the church looks like the one found in Russia!

Marcelo,

as much as I like your work with the New York skyline and you do know that,
I really have to say that I would add this series to some of your finest work that I've had the pleasure to view.
Simply beautiful work.

Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to receive approval from the authorities in Ecuador.

Zig

Your photographs are inspiring. The intricacy and detail put together buy the artists that constructed this is beyond amazing. What a great place to visit. That spiral staircase is really something.
