Default Ambato - Ecuador

I was born in Ambato, it is a small town with a population of 180.000 people.

I spent 10 days there visiting my family and friends and shooting some pictures.

The church in the middle is the "Cathedral" and it was rebuilt after an earthquake destroy the city in 1949.

The park in front of the Cathedral is called "Parque Montalvo" in memory of the most important writer Juan Montalvo.

This is a view of the city from a different angle, you will notice the Tungurahua volcano in the background, it is in activity since 13 years.

The night I left the city to meet me with my wife in Quito the volcano started an eruptive process but unfortunately I didn't have chance to shoot it.

Have a great day everyone.

Marcelo

Really cool shots, especially the drama of the volcano. I still have it in mind to vist Ecuador some day. It's on my bucket list.
Didn't realise you were born there, had to be a special trip for you.

Great stuff Marcelo, I'm surprised being that close to the volcano there hasn't been problems for the locals.
Where I grew up 180,000 was a good sized city. My town had about 500 people in it : )

Another great series, Marcelo. That cathedral is gorgeous! I really like the image with the Tungurahua volcano in the background. Tell your friend he got a terrific capture of that volcano erupting!

Really nice shots, Marcelo. Interesting looking city, and your shots do it justice. Even more impressive is how well you captured evening shots, which can be difficult to achieve.

(P.S. -You grew up in a much larger city than I did. )

Thank you guys, I'm glad you like the pictures.

Living in a big city like NYC always think that Ambato is a very "small town" :-)

Have a great day.
