Default Parrot

Oly E-3, 50-200mm at full 200mm, ISO 800, f6.3, spot metered, no PP.
I like the faithful reproduction of the colors and the detail around the eye.

Steven,

Beautiful colors and lots of detail in this picture, the DOF from the 50-200mm is fantastic also.

Parrots are very smart animals and very colorful.

+1 on the photo.

African greys may well be among the smartest animals on the planet. They can compose simple sentences that communicate an original thought, not simply a repeat of what they've heard.

Man! I just GOTTA pick up an E-3!!

Funny, when I looked at the title, I was immediately put in mind of the old Monty Python, "Dead Parrot" routine. Don't know why.

I see them fairly regularly selling for $500 to $600, which is about half of the original retail price. What's interesting to me is that the used ones have held that price for a long time now, despite Oly's corporate travails. If I were looking to buy one I'd watch the Buy & Sell forum at Fourthirdsphoto.com.

Absolutely beautiful shot. Crisp, detailed, great color, can't ask for more. I think the E3 or the E30 are my next investment in cameras. E5 is still to high for my budget.

Ahhhh yes... the dead parrot sketch .. pure Genius if you ask me!

Fab shot Steve, and the eye contact!

Gary I think theres some pretty good E-3 deals out there (not ebay) around $600+ and low shutter counts too!

Hey Harj: he can probably buy it off the money he recently earned by selling his investment guru some of his prints for her office.
