Default Sedona, Arizona

Steven said I should post some of my photos so blame him if this bores you.

These photos were taken with my first and second DSLRs, the Oly C2500L and E-20.

This is the town of Sedona. Well, the part that folks live in, anyway. Out of the photo to the right (east) is the small, original old part of town. That part is mostly inhabited by tourists and in the immortal words of Yogi Berra, "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded." Coffee Pot Rock is at the right end of the long butte that is the central focus of this photo.

The tallest butte is called Capitol Butte - here is another view of it:

You already saw Coffee Pot Rock:

Here are two more views of it.

The Crimson Cliffs in summer

and in winter

Snowfall at Thumb Butte:

Bell Rock, one of the most well known rock formations there:

Sunrise there was my favorite time to shoot:

Evening wasn't a bad time either:

Thanks for looking.

Ted

Wow, great shots. Well done. Thanks for those. I only got to Sedona twice, but I would love to go back and visit it again. When I drove up there from Phoenix, I also stopped at some cliff-dwelling Indian ruins on the way. I don't remember the name. Do you remember the name of this?

Sure do - it's Montezuma Castle, one of the first four National Monuments created by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. It is one of the best preserved cliff dwellings in North America - a 20 room high-rise apartment that dates back some 800 years, built (like Tuzigoot) by the Sinagua Indians (we don't know very much about them except what we discover through archaeology). It was named by early white inhabitants of the area who mistakenly thought it was built by the Aztecs.

Good photo.

These are all pictures that I only see on TV.
Nothing around here has this look or colors.
Nice pictures for sure and thank for sharing them.
