Default The E1 rocks..!!

I took the day off at work and I went to the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area with my daughter, it is just 10 minutes from my house, and already there I realized I forgot at home my TC 1.4 for the 50-200m

The E1 is a great camera but for birding it is not the right tool, anyway I spent a beautiful day walking and looking the variety of birds.

I stopped in a shadow area talking with my daughter and these beautiful swallows were posing for my camera.

E1 + 50-200mm - hand held.

Enjoy the picture and the weekend.

Great shots Marcelo, even hand held without IS. The color and details demonstrate why that old 5MP E-1 has become such a classic. Well done.

Thank you WCKSer,

The E1 is only 5 MP and it is not too much room to crop.

HI Marcelo

Glad I wasn;t the only one messing around with the old beauty this weekend ! Fab birding pics too ...

How did you find the AF compared to the E3/5 ? The reason I ask is that for me the E1's AF seemed to be a lot more assured when focusing which surpised me esp as I haven't used it in anger for quiet some time. It snaps straight into focus even when the battery was flashing red and that it was low on juice.

I do want to dispell the myth that the E3/E5 is a bigger camera than the E1... their is effectively no real difference other than the increased size of the OVF and the hump. Other than that they are nearly identical in width, height and depth. They both feel good in your hand - Oly improved the grip and the shutter speed dial on the E3/E5 right but the E1's thumb rest, the rear grip shape and the location of the on/off switch on the mode dial is ergonomic perfection thats something you do notice as soon as you pick it up. I also think that having the lens mount further to the left adds to the E1's useability but I can see why Oly made the change on the e3\E5. On top of that its quiet a pretty camera which I cant really say about the E3/5 .. ooh and that made in "japan sticker " helps as well!

Cheers Harj

Great images, Marcelo.

I still see listings from time to time for used E-1s on Craiglist. It's the one Oly
camera that I would still like to have.

These images remind me of that fact.
