Brilliant.
Great capture Steven. The dark background contrasting really nicely with the white and the detail on the bird.

One of the good ones...blowing snot bubbles through it's nose..

Thanks Ken. I kinda thought the play of shade and sunlight was interesting. I was beginning to think he would stay in the shade, but he finally came over to the one sunlit area shining thru the trees. Actually those drops from his beak were water drops where he had just raised his head up from taking a quick drink of water.

I like that photo. What happened to its tail feathers? I thought they were longer and should show on the other side of that log.

Thanks Ted. Yes, he really does have a tail, but this bird was a snowy egret which has a much shorter tail than the Great Egret. If you were to view them in person, you can easily tell the Snowy from the regular Great egret because the snowy is significantly smaller. The other clue is the colors of the feet and bills. The snowy has a black beak with black legs but bright yellow feet. The great egret has all black legs and feet, but has a yellow beak. The regular great egret also has a longer tail.

He is the same little Snowy from another angle so you can see the short tail:

And here is a shot of a great egret, notice the feet are black just like the legs:

Probably something by Neil Diamond, Gary Toth's favorite singer.

LOL. It's a reference to one of Gary's post from a while back when he labeled his shot as "Dove on the Rocks". I had forgot about that until Ted mentioned it. It got a pretty good run, "If you know what I mean." LOL
