That's a very pretty, almost abstract, image.

Nice work Gary. You took a very simple subject and made a very pleasing composition the grabs the viewer's attention. Well done.

Thanks very much, guys. The softbox is providing terrific light. Today was very cloudy on the verge of rain so ambient light really sucked.

It's a nice photo of some not so nice grass.

If I'm not wrong, its either Foxtail Barley or wild Canadian Rye, and if I had my dog with me they would be put at heel and we would find our way out of there the fastest way we could.

The awns of the stuff are like a series fo barbs, and if they can get started in an animal, they bore through the flesh over time and cause serious infection. Surgury is normally necessary for recovery.

The year he won the National, my dog Rev had inhaled an awn, it went through the lung, through the diaphram, and abscessed under his backbone and over his abdomen. He was very ill for 4 months before the thing came to the surface. The bill at the University Vet school ran more than $7000 for the attempts to discover what it was and the surguty to repair the damage.

My Dog Rum (a Field Camp in both the US and Canada) inhaled one and it ended up in his thoracic cavity. They opened him up like an open heart surgury (spread the rib cage) and removed the inflamed tissue that was causing the cavity to fill with fluid. A day later and he would have died from congestive heart failure. That was just $4500 to fix.

If you have a dog, keep it out of there!!!!

Thanks for the advice but, alas, I won't be having any more dogs. I had to put my Abby down a couple of years ago and the experience was waaaaaaaaay too painful. She was the first one I ever had to have put down... and the last. I still miss her terribly.

That is a great shot. With the right matted frame that would look cool on a wall
