Default Some kind of baby bird

This young bird was swimming around in a pond, but I have no idea what kind of bird. I didn't have time to hang around and see which birds joined it. Does anybody know what this is?

Someone on another forum thinks it could be some kind or a grebe. They could be on to something, as the head does resemble some grebes.
