Default Butterfly metamorphosis

We all remember from our grade school days learning that there are 4 stages in the life of a butterfly: egg, caterpillar, pupa (chrysalis) and finally adult. I was fortunate to capture the 4 complete stages in my flower garden recently. Spotting a butterfly laying eggs, I captured it on camera, and keep a photo record over the next few weeks until the emergence of the adult butterfly on July 4th. I thought I would share a few shots for the forum.

Photos to follow.

Good idea Steven, well executed. I just plain going to steal the series when my grandkids come in a week or so.

No. sorry, I don't care how much you beg, or you lie about it being protected. I'm just going to use it...!

Amazing--should be in a text book. Thanks for sharing this--I've taken lots of photos of this butterfly, but never seen it throughout its life cycle.

Excellent serie of pictures Steven, must have costed you a lot of time.
Also the idea of making this is really amazing.
