Default Adults are willing to play in the dirt if you let them

We did a Warrior Run fundraiser yesterday. It was in our Temple's wildlife refuge, loosely (very loosely) based on the Warrior Dash[/URL] obstacle course run (held around the country to raise funds for St. Jude's Children Research Hospital). It was set up by a member of our congregation who is a retired US Army Major.

Folks turned out more to have fun than to be super-competitive, as was our intention.

The start was serious enough:

But there were some folks who felt the need to get dirty, to prove they were seriously on an o-course:

A fast way to get through that obstacle is to roll through:

But then you're supposed to keep running, not sit and laugh:

A few more folks having fun:

The fastest way across this obstacle is demonstrated by this serious dude (notice the water bottle isn't being crushed):

The winner was the 14 year old boy on the right here, who went through like a ping pong ball in play:

This was my personal favorite photo:

Thanks for looking!

PS: Here's a quiz: The retired Army Major is in one of the photos. Identify that person.

Looks like a good time was had by all.
Noticed that at least one person used a camera as an excuse to stay out of the mud....Smart man.

Nope. This isn't an easy quiz. There is a good clue there but you have to get past your preconceived ideas.

It's a heavy responsibility to bear but someone has to do it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

For all the flack about the 14-35 SHG not being able to autofocus, I've just never had that problem. Although here there was plenty of contrasty stuff for the E5 to lock on to - BIFs are much more difficult for a camera.

Really nice captures, Ted. You captured both the fun and the spirit of the event. Well done.
