Default Some E3 wild life shots...

Just for James/Ken and anyone else thinking of picking up an E3 - Have never PP'd these files before or posted.

All taken at Cholchester Zoo and 2 from behind glass - Lens used 35-100F2

1. One seriously Ugly bird - ISO 800, slight NR applied on the file in LR4

2. Penguin - ISO 400 F3.5 1/200s

3. Bailey - ISO 640 F3.5.

4. A wee white bird.. no idea what it is - this is cropped approx 1/4 or 1/3 of the actual shot. Taken at ISO 1250 - should have used ISO 1600 as that actually has less noise.

I'm planning on going again once the weather improves and will take an EC14 with me, so I get a little closer.

Hope that helps to show the other side of the E3.... my E1 shots at London zoo of the lions and tigers are not a patch on the pic of Bailey with the E3.

Hi Fred

I'd like to know what type of bird it is .. I'll have to make a habit of snapping the details tag on their enclosures.

Baileys a pretty majestic beast and looking at the marks on his face hes been in a wee scrap or two. They have a white tiger at the zoo and he is majestic but he's enclosure is massive and looks like a jungle in India but to snap him you'd need the 70-300/50-200 or 300F2.8/90-250 + EC14 or more to get a decent pic.

What did surprise me was the number of bad pics I took on that visit to the zoo .. they were terrible and no one but myself to blame.

Those shots are excellent Harj. Really super detail and color. I think that my favorite is the Lion; I don't see how you get get any better detail and color on the King of Beasts.

Here's the happy Mrs Bailey .. kind of explains how Bailey's got those scars

Sad news on the white bengal Tiger Sasha.. I had thought he was still alive but he passed away the same year these pics were taken. What a loss to the zoo.. he was truly an amazing cat .. a fair bit bigger than Bailey and his lionesses.

Fantastic shots Harj,

2 and 3 are my favorites, amazing the amount of detail on those shots.

The 35-100mm was in my lens list before I sold my gear, the sharpness and bokeh of this lens is incomparable.

Hey Harj: If you ever get over to Florida, we have several of the white tigers here in Tampa.
