Today's Hawk

Today I went for a little afternoon walk around the local wetlands and woodlands that surround the golf course. Came across a Red Shouldered Hawk in a pine tree that eyed me with some curiosity before he got tired of me and flew away.

As usual, the E-3 and 50-20mm.

He did sit there for a little while and put up with me, and I credit the golfers for the animals not being so skittish. These were some pine trees that line the 12th hole of the golf course, so the birds are used to seeing guys walking around there all day hitting little white balls. I was just another guy walking around, only I did not have a golf club. :):)

Very nice shots. It's amazing how quickly birds and other critters can get accustomed to humans and their crazy machines and ways.

Thanks John. Yes, I have shared in the past that I feel fortunate as a photographer to live in a tourist area. When I go to areas like theme parks, or fishing piers, beaches, etc, the wildlife are already used to seeing hundreds of folks every day. And at home, living in a subdivision with large natural areas around the golf course allows all the animals to be comfortable with lots of people walking around all day. I just walk around with a camera instead of golf clubs.

:)Hey, its not my fault if somebody thinks I am cutting my way through a desolate jungle to get some of my wildlife shots. :D:D
