Yes, the fact seems pretty well established that the PDAF is on the sensor, which apparently means that it is another new Sony sensor without the AA filter, and with new Oly processing software. Sounds like the it will be a somewhat better improvement on the EM5. And since the EM5 holds its own against everything else, sounds like a winner to me.

The stories have been Sony was going to be providing an updated sensor with pdaf. I've just assumed this new hybrid body was going to be the first to get it since the two lens systems are said to work equally well, with the all micro bodies later as they are updated.

Ok.. now that we have the leaks on the OM-D-EM-1 (where does Oly come up with these names ???!! ), are we looking at upto a cool $2200 ?

EM1- $1500
EM1 BG - 300-500
Adapter - 150
Total - $1950 - 2150

Thats a lot of cash and were talking straight into FF pricing .. or 2 Fuji X1Pro's or 3 x K5Mk2 or even 3 x GX7's/OMDEs. If your shooting just say the 35mm f3.5/50mmf2 or the 25mm 1.4 Leica, then id say you won;t need the BG but anything bigger, the BG is going to be an essential.

So if thats the case.. were back to the original question.. will Oly be able to justify that kind of price point ?

Several sites claim the adapter is included in the base price. We will just have to wait and see what the battery grip will be.

E-P5 plus VF4 is not much less. It's just a body, unlike a full frame body where I'd have to then spend on the high end lenses that could cost 2x-4x the body cost.

thats a lot of gold for a hot rod EM5 with a new sensor and a dangly bit isnt it

Im thinking OMD EM5 was $1000, in some countries they offered the body with a free adapter
whats different?

ok new sensor, new EVF, new features, higher ranked camera
but really whats that worth? take a stab $300?

the grip, is really simpler than the other EM5, which had 2 parts and ally bits to hang it all together
this is just a plastic box, with what has to be said seem well engineered buttons and switches

Limited pool of potential users/buyers. This is a niche product. If they were even to sell at a rate half that of a Nikon or Canon pro DSLR's they could probably drop the price and make it up in volume sales, but I don't think sales of this body will even come close to E-M5 sales, much less how many D800 or D600 bodies Nikon sells or 1D series cameras that roll off Canon's lines.
