Default HMS Belfast - Pano

Just a single pic of the old cruiser, while she's moored up on the Thames. 4 Tiffs via LR stitched together using MS ICE .

A glorious start to March .. can't ever remember there being one like this.

The Skylines changing in the ol city .. and theres talk of 250 sky scrapers being granted possible permission to being built which I think is just nuts and they'll take away the character of the place. Looks like Godzilla forgot his mobile and left it on the north side of the embankement!

Looking at it again .. i think I need to straighten it out in LR and then use iCE to create the pano... Gonna try again.

Update:

Using the lens correction tools in LR actually made it worse, so I'll leave it at that.

That is one HUGE cellphone. Nice pic though. Stitching panoramas is fun.

Really nice Harj.

Your March is looking better than mine so far.

Hey Harj - isn't that the building that, twice a year when the sun angle is just right, focuses sunlight on the windows of the building across the street and shatters them?

Hey Ted

It could be that one although I'm not sure.. there's one that has a "death ray" when the sun hits it and it had a tendency to melt cars that were parked on the street below. Not sure why you would design a building with like that unless they were trying to see if they could replicate Archimedies Death Ray!

Ah! I remembered what it does incorrectly. I'm pretty sure that "cell phone building" is the one. Look at how the glass curtain wall is curved to focus light across the street.

LOL. There is a new hotel in Vegas that also has a problem with the sun reflecting off the windows, but I could not remember which hotel.

So I went to look it up, and lo and behold, I found that the Vegas building was designed by the very same architect that had done your London building!!

THAT'S why I knew about it - thanks for shaking the dust off of my brain cells, Steven. I read about the Vegas hotel in an article that mentioned what you noted - same architect. Amazing that people still hire him.

One thing I really like about this group - we can divert a post about a WWII light cruiser into a discussion about a building that melts cars. That's a very special and under-appreciated talent we have.

.
