Default Sunday Egret

Last Sunday we went over to John's Pass at Madeira Beach for lunch. Walking on the boardwalk after lunch, we spotted a Great Egret on a pier watching all the folks walking by. It looks like it was waiting for the tourist to toss it a snack, but it was too far away for that. The bird was actually about 50+ feet from the boardwalk, and too far to feed.

These shots are actually cropped, as I took them with a standard lens; I did not have a telephoto lens with me at the time. But the birds are smart, they hang around where the boats dock, and wait for the fishermen to throw them a bait fish or two.

Why fish yourself when there are so many fishermen coming back to the docks with plenty of fish? LOL

Thanks Bob. Yes, I love the background also, and not just what you see in the picture. I would like to own some of those million dollar houses on the ocean!!

This is great! "I've staked out my spot and you can't have it."

Probably not - you'd be constantly worried about what burglar is going to break in next. That's why they live in gated communities and have security cameras everywhere. I'd rather fly below the radar with a small house.

Thanks Ted, glad you like the shot.

Yeah, it's not worth the upkeep and taxes on those mansions. But I could get along fine with a small mobile home next to one of those beautiful inlet bays.
