Default Portrait of a Redhead

For once an orangutan actually seemed to cooperate while I took some photos. The result was a half decent portrait shot of the animal. Taken with the E-3 and 50-200mm +1.4 converter.

Nice shots Steve. Probably more co-operative than a human subject, I've no doubt.

I didn't have much success with an Orangtan with her young son a few years ago in the local zoo. Unfortunately, she and her offspring had come inside, where the light wasn't so good, not helped by the bright reflections on the glass separating us. At one stage, she was only a few inches away from me on the other side of the glass. I felt quite privileged being that close.

Thank you, John. That is an interesting story about the mother and baby on the inside glass wall. I have not had much luck with Orangutans in the past. I have very few shots that are acceptable, even after many tries. This shot was taken outside with a telephoto lens. I have never been able to get any decent shot of one through the glass when they come inside.

Default Thank you to Steve's Digicams

And another "Thank You" to Steve's-Digicams for the selection of one of my Orangutang shots as the POTD for 08/01/2015. Very much appreciated.

Sorry Steven but I don't think those are "half decent" the 1st one specially is outstanding..!!

Beautiful shots and little jealous of that great opportunity you had with this beautiful orangutan.

Did you use flash? I see some light catch on her eyes.

Marcelo

Congrats for the POTD
