Hi Steve.

Hold fast on the E-300. The new E-500 is due on the market from the first of next month.

Among the features of the "500" are the fact that it has on-board slots for both Compact Flash/Microdrive AND xD.

Also Olympus have gone back to the top mounted Pentaprism instead of the Porro Finder of the E-300.

It uses the same 8MPix Frame Transfer CCD as the 300 with the ultasound dust eliminator built in as standard.

The E-500 also has a fiber reinforced polycarbonate body which is both light and extremely strong.

Takes the same lens program as the other E professional series cameras (Zuiko) and the same range of accessories.

For a quick and dirty comparison of the E-500 and E-300, please refer to my post: http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13877

Please, feel free to persuade me to go back to the E-500 as this is one I really wanted and I have two weeks to return the E-300 to Fry's.

Actually, the E-500 DOESN'T have a pentaprism!!!

It uses penta-type mirror system, but nowhere near as good as a pentaprism.

That's weird! I wonder what the production runs (serial numbers) were like. Mine has the "standard" arrangement of buttons, too (purchased April, 2005).
