Has anyone heard about a replacement being put out for the E-1 yet?*

Hi: I don't think it will be a replacement for the E-1, but Oly and Panasonic are working together currentlyto develop a new dSLR based on Oly's 4/3 system. Expect to see the results in Feb at PMA 2006.

http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/news/200...0113jointe.cfm

There has been talk that it may be cheaper than the E-1, and that Oly is designing the body, with Pana possibly contributing their image stabilization; but there has been nothing confirmed.

And in case you have missed the other posts, the first one will be the E 500, out in Sept/Oct, similar to the 300 but with a standard looking prism.

The other model will be out in Feb 06 and it will be the same as the Panasonic.

Please do not bother with the "speculation" comments.

Remember that the origital subject was "replacement for the E-1"; from all signs, the E-500 is NOT that replacement.

According to a rumor over on the DPReview Oly SLR forum, someone talked to an Oly rep recently and was told the New E-? would have "double-digit" pixels (probably 10-12), incorporate KM's integral anti-shake technology, and be out sometime in the spring.

There is a small problem with that. KM are working with Sony and Olympus with Panasonic. The E3 will be also sold as a Panasonic.

Well, rumors are worth what you pay for them --I'm not investing just yet, either.
