Ok, might be a stupid question, but....does the flash automatically pop up in full auto mode...in the "green square' mode without you manually pushing the flash button? I would think it should, but at the cam store the sales guy said it doesn't...maybe he had the flash setting not on auto?

Well, I went ahead and got the E300 2 lens kit. No, the flash is manual activation. The Canon XT does auto pop up the flash though, can't remember if the D50/70 does though. Doesn't mattter, i'm in the Oly group now after shooting Nikon for years, and Minolta for a few before that.

I can understand pop-up flash activation on a point and shoot (or have surface mount flash that never closes), but on an SLR...that's the last thing I'd want on my camera. It's enough the camera lets you know if you should use a flash, and I can ignore it as poping up and firing would ruin my shot.

you can turn it off on the others. But realistically now that the gear is so easily excessible...price wise...many non pros/enthusists are getting in on the action. My use will probably be mostly family stuff, as I'm not a full time practicing pro anymore.
