Hint....if it has an EVF, it is not an SLR (single lens reflex). If they make a camera with an EVF that takes interchangeable lenses, you can bet it won't be anything other than a bridge-type camera. In other words, nothing advanced users will take seriously.

Ever tried panning or shooting a subject moving faster than a slow walkwith an electronic viewfinder? The lag gives you motion sickness. It's the last type camera I'd ever be interested in buying. Today an EVF would be a step DOWN, not up.The technology simply is not good enough yet to be a viable alternative in an advanced camera a professional or serious amatuer would choose to work with.

There are so many other things Olympus could add to their current line that would be of more use, like a live histogram in the viewfinder instead of the exposure compensation bar orimage stabilization in the body for justtwo. Not that we'll get either....

Here is what we are all going to get:

Olympus' version of a camera using Sony's R-1 chip, just as they did with Sony's F-828 8 MP chip two tears ago. ( and the reviews indicate they did a better job than Sony with Sony's 8MP chip).

If they include a good buffer where you won't have to wait for 3 to 4 raw & jpeg shots, PC sync, Excellent auto focus, they will succeed.

Anything else and their bottom line will weaken more than it is today.

I hope they do it right.

Regards, Nicholas

Now what I'mhearing sounds intriguing:

It's a 8mp

New hybrid CMOS sensor

Improved high ISO performance

Positioned as mid-range

Around USD 1000

Optical VF

Tiltable LCD ala 8080

2.5 inch screen

No swivel

Live preview

Worldwide unveiling Jan 26, in stores March

E-1 successor after 2nd half of year

How they get the live preview on the back screen is what will be interesting. Do they raise the mirror, use a pellicle mirror, or is there some new technology they're using that we don't know about?

What appears to be an even better post regarding the "workings" on theoptical/electronic viewfinder:

This sounds like a realwinner.

You meant to say E-330 right Steve?
