I have been entertaining the possibility of using a Hoodman on my E-500 so I looked on Hoodmans web site to see if one is available. Nothing there is made for the Olympus brand at all. I called them on their toll free number and asked about the future availability of one being made. I was told "The Olympus is not a popular brand of camera and I have never heard of the E-500 so for us to make one we would have to have at least 10,000 inquirers to even consider it". I told this person that they did not do any research on the camera and they may be missing out. I am kind of insulted by her answer. I am almost vindictive enough to send them 10,000 emails but not quite that vindictive.

Any thoughts on this?

Typical customer service.

The person you spoke to was a) rude and b) an idiot.

If you want to vent (and I often do), write a letter to the company and tell them that the people on the phone are condescending. As a long time complainer, I have found that most companies don't pay a lot of attention to you if you just gripe about their product line. But, if you tell them you got a less than pleasant respone to a phone enquiry, that tends to raise a few hackles.

Thank you for both your answers. Yes they were rude and I did write a letter as you suggested.

Mikefellh, if you look deeper intoDelkins page they have one listed for the E-300 and the E-500. But if you click on the link "Buy Now" they are listed as unavailable. I wrote them a letter as well. I will let you know if I get a response.

Got a reply back from Delkin who does have a picture of the hood for the E-500 on their web site and this is thier response:

"We don't have a time frame in which we will have a specific shade for
the Olympus E-500 but we do have a 2.5in universal shade that should fit
it."

Will the give you a FULL refund including shipping if it doesn't fit the E-500, and cover any damage if it doesn't fit properly and damage the camera?

Got another letter last night from Delkin:



Jim,

Yes we plan to make one for that camera. However, at this point in time it's in development and no real ETA is available. We are planning on releasing one for it though.
