Add'l info photos of the EP3

Had a chance to get on 43 rumors.com this morning and took a look at some really impressive photos of the new Olympus EP-3 and 12mm lens.

I've been waiting so patiently for this announcement and with the E-P3 at the front of my wishes........ now it really is but need to see more reviews of the PL3. I can say I don't like the 'looks' of the PL3 compared to the PL1 or PL2 as the PL3 just looks so tiny in the few photos of it.

Only time 'and Bonnie' will tell which I choose, if either of the new 3s.

Hi Bob,

For people like me, with large hands, I can tell you that the EPL-1/EPL-2 is about as small as I'd want to go. Obviously, I haven't held it, used it, etc. or read actual performance reviews so I can't get too excited.

But it is fun to see new stuff coming out that appears to address many of the shortcomings/features/AF issues that many have commented about.

I guess time will tell.

....I've already, this am, decided the PL3 is a really nice camera but not for me. I too have large hands but it is the styling that just puts off the PL3 for me. No 'BLACK' machine, no front grip at all, no built-in flash and no interest from this point on.

I just may be looking for some good 'end of inventory' or second-hand PL2 options.

Gonna go back to the lake with my E-300 & 70-300 and forget the PEN thinking for a while. Yesterday was a workout with the E-3 & 50-200, gosh it was heavy!

& for those of us who need an EVF, the lack of a built in EVF on the new Pens continues to be an issue. & the addition of an External EVF adds to the size and the make sthe Pens much more costly than other alternatives....at least it does for me.

Hey BoBB: it sounds like you should be looking at the E-P3 instead of the E-PL3. The E-P3 grip is removable and can be replaced with an optional Oly larger grip for persons with big hands; and it comes in black.

Another site noted that the focus in low light was faster than the E-5.

You are right. Panasonic's micro43 cameras have a major advantage with their built-in EVF. But Olympus' micro43 Pen series have advantages as well. It's all in what is important to you.

For me, the addition of the ext. EVF onto my EPL-1 is crucial. And yes, it is expensive. I made it easier to swallow that pill, by getting a used EPL-1 with a 14-42m lens @$350. then buying a new VF-2. Much easier to justify and the spousal acceptance factor was easier to meet:D

Just caught this article penned by Doug Brown, an excellent photographer who hails from Canada. It was published on Luminous Landscape today.
