I did get on the list for the 17/1.8. Played with it Saturday since the Olympus reps were there. Cool liitle lens.

They also said to stay tuned. Next on the list for Olympus is fast zooms. No idea if that's 6 months or two years away, but it's definitely on their to-do list.

I did give them my rant on Olympus' "no-hoods-with-micro-lenses" policy for all the good I know it did, but I did feel better afterwards :).

Greg, you must have cuts all over your hands from handling such a sharp lens!

Congratulations and looks nice, I really like the second shot with the red berries, very holiday spirit.

Bonus??? That word has been out of my vocabulary for years now!!! Lucky you! Enjoy your new lens!

I have to admit being very lucky in terms of what my employer still does with paid benefits and an annual bonus since I joined in 2008. The first 28 years and two jobs was definitely not the case. I keep telling the younger ones around the office how good we have it.

The hood for the 75mm f1.8 arrived today. My oh my, this is nice. Heavy-duty metal construction with the same great clamp-locking mechanism used on the hood for the 12mm f2. If it works as well as the hood for the 12, once locked on it will become a part of the lens and never move no matter how much you knock it one way or the other.

The inside of the hood has black felt to eliminate all reflections due to sidelight bouncing off the hood walls that might cut down on contrast and, surprisingly, the box also included a new Olympus lens cap for the lens with pinch controls that allows one to leave the hood on all the time and remove or replace the cap easily without ever having to take the hood off.

Very impressive, as it should be for $75.

.......ahhhh, the shelf elf is really looking after you. FUN times!

A lens cover like that came with my 35mm macro and I like it. As you said you can take the cover off without having to remove the hood. Mmm, I don't have a hood for my macro but not quite sure I need one yet.
