E-M1, 14-54 v-I and X2 digi-TC

If you have an E-M1 and you've not used the X2 digi-TC; I encourage trying it, you just may like it. I've never used digi-TC on any of my cameras due to loss of data but the E-M1 is a whole 'nuther thing.......... it works!

I have used the 14-54 and EC-20 on the E-P3 with decent results but with the E-M1 I've become a user of the X2 setting. I've posted this before but this time with some images.

X2 and the 14-54, 50-200 & 70-300 works very well and who can argue against 'double' magnification at lens' native aperture with 'no shake'.

I am using the setting more often each time out and have X2 assigned to the video record button...... the best usage of the record button IMO is anything but what it is intended for.

These, I did a couple days ago when the sun popped out for a bit.

............all M1, X2 & 14-54

Those look great.

I have the video record button on my E-PL2 reprogrammed to recenter the autofocus box--partly because that's a useful command, but mostly because I always seemed to continuously hit it on accident and record several minutes of the ground as I walk or the inside of my camera bag.

Great shots Bob and lots of detail. Like Sammy, I'm guilty of the same thing when I have my PL2. Always hitting the record button by accident so I assigned something else to it. I never take movies anyway so no loss. I will not buy a M1, I will not buy a M1.............................

But you are thinking about it, but you are thinking about it .. read my mind ... you will buy it ... sooner or later :) :)

Hah, it would definitely be much later. I cannot justify selling my E3 body for at most somewhere around 300-350 and invest money in the M1 plus the adaptor for 4/3 lenses. I'm pretty pleased with the E3, 14-54 combo. And then the learning curve again and I still haven't learned everything about the E3 yet.

Very nice. Yes, the digital 2x TC can be quite impressive. The times I have shot raw+jpeg and tried emmulating the effect, if I happened to nail the exposure the way I wanted, I could not process the raw file, crop the image down to the same 2x equivalent and see that I gained much, if anything over just letting the camera do it.

Nice pictures Bob, I tried the digital TC on my OMD-E5 and it is a nice feature.

Can you imagine using it with the 300mm f4?? you will get a 1200mm magnification (counting the 2x crop factor of 4/3 system).

Your pictures are very sharp, the 14-54mm was my favorite lens with the E5.

X2 works very well on the 50-200 and where the EC-20 simply doesn't fit with the ZD 70-300; X2 does wonderfully well, I am anxious to shoot the butterflies & dragonflies this summer.

Lots of fun ahead.

It's about that time of the year for hundreds of Egrets to inhabit a sanctuary close to the UT Southwestern/Parkland Hospital area.

I captured some nice images of them a couple of years ago with the E-P3 and 75-300. Didn't make the trip over there last year but I'm going this year.

the digi-TC is very impressive as is your composition and exposure Bob! I am looking forward to seeing the Butterflies and dragon flies you shoot this summer with the new gear.
