Default Which primes for Epl1?

Hello. Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays (and stayed safe for those on the east coast). I'm sure I did, receiving the E-pl1. The thing is a beauty!

I have an old film Ricoh with a 50mm f1.7 on it, so naturally I would pick up a K-mount adapter. However, my sister will be taking photography classes and I can't just hand over an empty body, so I may just pick up an OM adapter.

I enjoy street photography, as well as going to my school's many events/performances, which is why I need a fast prime. My question is: Will 50mm be too tight for indoors, as it would be 100mm? Should I go wider with a 28mm (56) or a 35mm (70) instead?

Rather than tell you what you think you need, when I don't know your shooting style, preferences etc., here is a link to analysis performed by John Foster of Biofos.com. The analysis shows results of all the Zuiko prime lenses that are currently available.

I realize that you may choose to use another brand of lens, but the focal length is the important consideration from your question.

There is some very interesting results and a worthwhile read

For what it's worth, I use an Minolta Rokkor 50mm 1.4 prime and find it works great indoors, is extremely sharp, and usually very reasonably priced on the used market.

So you want to be a better photographer? Open your eyes and take a look at what is all around you.

Yes the 50mm 1.7 will be tight for some indoor work. If you want a good fast prime with autofocus. My pick would be the panasonic 20mm 1.7
Super Frequent Flyer, no joke. Ex Patriot and loving it.
Canon Eos 60D, T1i/500D, Eos1, Eos 630, Olympus EPL-1, and a part time Pentax K-X shooter.
