A quick Q on the Oly m40-150

Sold my 43 40-150 and I will buy a m40-150 very soon
Is there a difference between the
m 40-150 and the m 40-150 R ?
I am getting a LOT of conflicting info from the Web
FYI The m 40-150 after selling my 43 40-150 will set me back $ 120.00

Thanks

Very little difference. Primarily it's cosmetic. There may be a coating difference. Optically I believe they are identical. After having used both, I see nothing you gain or lose choosing either.

Just noticed that the original version of the m.zuiko 40-150 has just dropped 50 to a sale price of $149. Price is valid April 28 -- May 11, 2013, direct from Oly US. Plus free shipping.

Hmm, Oly here in Canada is not showing that price... ;-(

A couple of months ago they were selling the "R" version through the Olympus site for $99. It seems to go on sale periodically for that amount.

Curious... On the Oly Canada site when you select the "R" version of the m.40-150 there is a banner saying "The 'R' styling of this lens is expected to ship in June. Click here for an alternate style of this lens available to ship immediately."
Click on the link and up pops the US store with the discounted price on the previous generation lens. So I wonder if the CDN store would honour the pricing it is directing Canadian shoppers to...

Interesting. I just checked the Olympus America site and see the original and R versions, both listed at $149 right now. The R version has been out for a decent amount of time now. Long enough I cannot imagine the Canadian store not having it in stock. Maybe the Canadian store is just trying to sell off what is now new, older stock?

I have not seen the original 40-150 in stock at B&H for a while. No doubt it's still around but what's out there right now is it, and I like the styling of the original version better. That's why I kept the one I did.

$199.00

Other retailers are matching the price direct from Olympus.
