Sandy, Orchid and Hawk

Sandy seemed a bit bored inside (this is her spot to see what is going on and she plops her head right on the window sill to see outside)

She's now fully recovered and with warmer temps it seemed a good time to take her out for a walk today.
I brought the 70-300 with me because I had heard some hawks earlier in the day and thought I might see them in the afternoon. No hawks but when we came back I snapped a few portraits with the 70-300mm from a distance, I like the way a telephoto can provide background separation.

Indoors I used the ambient light to take some snaps of our purple orchid which is in the midst of opening a long branch of blooms. I tried both the 45 and the 14-54mm MK II but the three I found came out best were with the 14-54mm MK II, just much easier framing with the zoom, and shooting against a flat background there wasn't any need for faster aperture. Still not as adept at flowers as many of you guys but still trying...

Love that last one of Sandy. 3/4 view, contemplative gaze, and warm, low-angle light. I'd frame that one if I were you.

thanks chiPersei I may just frame that one up!
