That is a cormorant, Greg. You must have been close to a body of water as they are fish eaters.

The 300mm f4 is one really, really nice lens. Pretty darn impressive from any perspective. The combined camera/lens stabilization is incredible.

Bulky, but very carryable, with the right bag. My bird-in-flight skills are what needs practice, although I eventually plan on using it for much more than just that.
