Captured with the E-M5 at the Arboretum today. Focuses really, really close, requiring a lot of stopping down to maintain any kind of depth of field and I was not using a tripod, so I had to only use moderate apertures (f5.6-8) in order to keep somewhat hand-holdable shutter speeds.

GREAT! .....it works and makes great images, but it looks so awesome on the camera. I could just walk around with it swinging on the leash knowing people are looking at it in awe.
How does the focus switch actually work and just how physically close will it focus, I read somewhere, about 8 - 10 inches and what is the effect of the sliding hood? Of the pooches, that last one looks to be dangerous..... lol

Unfortunately I can't tell you how much the hood would or would not affect things, because it's not included just like every other Olympus Micro lens I've purchased, and right now it's not available anywhere. I've looked.
Close focus is 7.5 inches. You think you're almost there and it just keeps on focusing. 7.5 inches at 60mm is really close. The switch is slick and locks very positively in place. Of the three, the schnauzer is only 1 year old and she has never-ending energy. The other two are over 10 and not nearly as active. Last edited by Greg Chappell; Nov 3, 2012 at 6:40 PM. |

I am confused, the lens the rep had at AC had a cylindrical 'slider' that I assumed was the hood.

Yep, that's it alright, you shoulda mugged the sales rep and took it off him for me
![]() Already sent Jim at AC an email, ranting about the Olympus no-hoods-with-lenses policy.....like that really helps ![]() Last edited by Greg Chappell; Nov 4, 2012 at 9:39 AM. |

Great detail Greg, especially shows up in the dog's hair.

...........so, this morning (Monday - 5th) I visited 'Smuggy' to see your images from yesterday & Friday for more of the 60mm files.
WOW !!!!!! is the only way I can exclaim how good the images are. I absolutely love the 'density' of them. The photos are what I like so well, heavy but defined, much like the old Kodak sensor based dSLR output, but more intriguing. I really feel as though the images are more like seeing the actual subject. ....gotta run TTYL

Well, in the old days they used to call a good 50mm standard lens a "nifty 50"
We'll have to call this new 60mm macro a "sweet 60" Very nice. And, like Bob, I too took a look at your smug mug site and reviewed the balance of images in your gallery. Color saturation was deep with just enough 'pop'. But, not overcooked or smeared. ![]() ![]() Zig

I will concur with Zig and Bob the color saturation is just right and there is just enough pop with out it being fake.
So about it looking sweet on the camera... where's the shot? certainly a good excuse to pull out the old PEN body and snap one of the OMD with the sweet 60.... being a bit of a techno-nerd I always enjoy a well done gear shot... hint hint

I can do that this evening. I just wish I also had the hood to include in the image (and to use
