Default New to Olympus and Micro Four Thirds

Hi,
I just wanted to say that I was glad to find this forum and have already picked up some good tips and suggestions about the EPL-1 and various lenses and accessories. I am a Canon DSLR user and have a 7D along with various lenses and I plan on keeping that kit but wanted something with a little better image quality than my Canon G11 to carry around on trips and outings. I've been really impressed with the image quality I have seen coming from the EPL-1 so I found a good deal on a used one on another forum and look forward to getting that in a few days.
Anyway, I wanted to say "hi" and also "thanks" for all of the good information I am already enjoying here at this forum.
Jane

Hey Jane.

You have a similar setup as me, just replace the 7d with 50d. I originally got my EPL1 for a travel cam, but find myself using it more and more and the canon less and less.

Welcome!

Thank you for the welcome to the forum!
Hards80 and shoturtle, I can see myself using this camera a lot more than the DSLR too. It's going to be a great take anywhere camera.
Since you guys are both Canon users, would you happen to know if the canon ST-E2 will work off of the EPL-1 so I can fire my 580ex II flashes off camera?
Thanks again,
jane

I do not think so, as it is design for canon's ettl not olympus' TTL.

I have not tried it, but the pop up flash can serve as a master with the TTL if you have TTL slave flash to control. I remember reading about it, here is the link.

Your welcome, but it may be a bad thing, it could mean you will need to get a R series flash or 3rd party flash that supports olympus for the wireless flash. More things to fuel the photography addiction
