Default Video in-camera playback issue

I took a video to the longest limit, 7:27, no problem, even though my SD card is only class 2. I hook up my epl1 to the computer as a USB storage and play the video, no problem, smooth as silk.

However, if I play the same video on the camera on its built-in screen, only the first 3 minutes play well. Afterward, the audio part still goes well, but video becomes very slow, slower and slower. Looong after audio played over, the video still goes forever, extreamely slow.

I then tried several more long video, all the same problem.

I think this is a bug, and wish Olympus fix it in a new firmware.

Call oly tech support. They may have some info for you, or you can report it. Honestly, I have not tested it, as I alway wait to see the video on my computer. I just hate watching things on tiny screens.

I don't play video on the camera neither, I was shooting long garbage video and playing them back as a way to drain/test the battery, and noticed this bug. I have no time nor interest to call any support, usually I know more than they do in terms of tech. If Oly is a good company, they should read forums like this.

This problem is caused by the slow SD card (class 2). When I use a faster card, class 4, then play back has no problem at all. Note this is about play back, I'll post about recording and SD speed requirement later.

As suggested by the manual, I formatted this class 2 card in EPL1 and now it works perfectly, HD recording and playback. Very happy!
