Now you are getting a bit carried away. It is good camera, but you really are making it out to more then it is. It has flaws just like every other camera out there.

Of course nothing is perfect, unless Oly is bought by Panny, at least the guy who does the jpeg engine for oly. As I expected, outdoor photos look cold and blue sky looks horrible. Other than that, it is flawless, especially the ETC mode works even much better than I expected, flawless for both stills and video.

Why ETC is better than post cropping? Because focus, AWB and exposure etc. are more accurate to the subject. And for video, post cropping is out of question and 720p is still HD.

Dpreview made a huge mistake by ignoring this great and very important feature.

This is a close up with 14mm/f2.5, with ETC on and off, EXIF says 54mm and 28 euiv.

kinda cold with the color, not very sharp, stop down more, and see if it improves the sharpness.

The panny has always been the better HD tool. The oly the better photography tool. That is where each company puts their efforts it seems.

I have not done any tweaking yet, right out of the box auto (P) photos, with everything set to the factory default. Just try to give an impression about the ETC feature. It's a windy and cloudy day and I had to use one hand to aim from the ground up to sky to get the flower face. And the 14mm does not have OIS, so these photos cannot look sharp. So, please ignore the IQ, just see what ETC can do size-wise.

with it at 14mm at 1/1600 of sec, that is more then enough to not need any IS. 1/FL works against camera shake. And at 1/1600 you can freeze a ton of action.
