Default Well, I just received an EP-2

Hi,

Cameta Camera is selling brand new EP-2 bodies for $329.00 on Amazon.com.
I ordered one last week and received it yesterday.

First impressions are that the build quality of this camera is outstanding
as compared to the EPL-1. Fit and finish is just beautiful.

Also, I very much like and prefer the button locations. The mode dial is much less apt to be moved by accident. It doesn't have a flash as does the EPL-1. But then, I've never used the on board flash so, don't think that will be a factor.

The menu system looks to be similar but flows differently. I'll have to look into it more, as I use this camera.

I can't wait to take it out and give it a try.

Wow, what a price!

It was not that long ago B&H was still selling them for $700.

Should be an excellent shooting experience compared to the E-PL1. There's a lot to be said for dials vs. Buttons!

Hi Greg,

Yes, the price was too good to pass up. I happened to have caught it on 43rumours.com. As I sat looking at the screen with my finger on the buy button, I kept asking myself, why do I need this? I could spend the money on a new lens.Am I crazy?

In the end, I held my nose and pressed the button. Done deal.

After receiving the camera, I'm glad I got it. I'm not one to worry about style
as I'm more of a performance vs style geek. But, I have to admit, this is a beautiful little camera.

I've got to take it out and have some fun with it.

Really, and what do you base your opinion on?

From my perspective, the EP-2 is a number of steps up from the EPL-1, which I've owned for over a year now and find it to be a very good tool within
it's design criteria.

While I don't necessarily recommend any mirrorless camera (take your pick from ANY brand) for fast action, sports, or capturing birds in flight, the Olympus Pen series of cameras provide a whole lot of advantages for capturing
landscapes, seascapes, portraits, etc.

The size makes them a wonderful travel camera. The OOC jpegs' are some of the best that you'll get from any camera. Olympus' lenses are extremely sharp. The in body image stabilization allows you to use all kinds of legacy lenses by way of an adapter.

If the EP-2 is a donkey, then I say this donkey can fly!!!!

Feel free to post your images that you've taken to base your educated opinion on.

That's giving them WAY more credit than you should! They are probably off being a PITA somewhere else at this point.

You're right, Greg. I shouldn't have bothered to respond as it only served to give the comment some legitimacy.

......well, I think your response was well done, I would likely have created a 'moderator' intervention need were I in your place.

I'm anxious for your P2 images and camera thoughts.
