I think my shutter speeds were mostly about 1/30th to 1/60th.

Snow helps and the ability to take a lot of pictures and delete the many blurs also helps.

Sounds like I could have done somewhat better at 800 ISO then.

The epl-1 is good to 1000iso with very good noise control. 1250 and 1600 is usable with some noise.

I have this lens and the EPL1. IMO, the lens produces sharper images with the EPL1 than the G1. The focus accuracy issue you mentioned is really not a lens problem but the EPL1. The focus area on the EPL1 (even if choosing single AF) is too wide and as a result, the camera sometimes picks up the wrong spot to focus on. There is a trick that you can use to reduce the focus area (there is a sticky post in this forum explaining the process in details) by setting the magnification for MF assist to its maximum (14x is the maximum) and then pressing the little magnifier button before half-pressing the shutter to lock focus. You'll see a smaller green box replacing the normal focus green box. Using this technique will greatly improve focus accuracy when shooting with this lens.

Put the epl1 in to the 14x AF single point, it is allot more accurate.

Things working a little better today.

Cracking a sunflower seed. This was slightly better light and 1000 ISO instead of 400.

I was getting about 1/250th much of the time and image quality seems a little better.

If you are using the large AF box, try the 14x AF box, here is the link

Thanks.....I have been messing with that.

I wish I could get the box to STAY small.

I guess that's not possible?

This is one amazing camera/lens combo.

I took this.....

Then I wondered if that little red thing was a bird, so......I cropped it real small and the quality is still excellent.

I'm impressed.

Yes it is really a great combo. I love using the 45-200 with the epl-1. Nice reach, very sharp and crisps photos. It is a good lens to go with the kit lens.
